Convergance, At Last!

My formula above is exactly what the folks at Germany’s Coextant Systems GmbH have developed and deployed with their product Doxtop. This app really does exemplify what the Web is supposed to be used for: knowledge sharing among knowledgable people – what a concept! Why didn’t Al Gore think of this?
You can see what “it does” below. In it’s simplest sense, it allows you to easily embed documents to your web pages, functional enough, but the party really get’s started over at the Doxtop site. You sign up/in with your free account, upload files – huge, up to 50 megs/per, as either a single or a batch, or create one on the fly with the feature-rich HTML editor. Cut, paste, insert graphics, and supports direction/URL syndication, and tagging.
Think about this – say goodbye and no more to “click here to download a copy of my free e-book.”
Embed your completed documents in the box/size you specify (Doxtop generates the copy/paste code) for your site presentation choice in either Flash or PDF. (Flash used below) Cool? Google Docs won’t do this, and offers no support for PDF!
Supported file formats include just about everything you can think of, or need in the way of docs, so many, I got tired of typing – see:
.vsd .vss .vdx .doc .docx .ppt .pptx .xls .xlsx .bmp .gif .jpg .jpe .jpeg .png .txt .ods .pdf .odt .odp .sxw .sxc .ods .odg .rtf.
Beyond utility, the site is a Social Network on it’s own, where you can interact with other members, read and share docs, and join or form groups with complete customization and optional features available at the admin and moderator levels. The whole thing is straight-forward, and just plain easy all around! Needless to say, I’m impressed with this one – an app long overdue in our converging society. All thumbs (and heads) up!
